A knee injury will prevent Argentina right-back Nicolas Burdisso playing in Saturday's World Cup second round tie against Mexico in Leipzig.

The 25-year-old suffered the injury in the early stages of the goalless draw against the Netherlands on Wednesday following a tangle with Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Argentina spokesman Andres Ventura confirmed: "He has a slight ligament sprain in his right knee. He is recovering well but won't be ready for Saturday."

Burdisso's place in the starting line-up is likely to go to Fabricio Coloccini, who produced an assured performance after coming off the bench against the Dutch.
