Brazil captain Cafu has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension that will keep him at AC Milan until the end of next season.
The 35-year-old was scheduled to be out of contract in June and press reports in Brazil had claimed he was close to agreeing a deal with Sao Paulo.
However, the attacking right-back has opted to spend a tenth season in Serie A, having had a six-year spell with Roma before joining the Rossoneri in 2003.
Cafu is expected to be a key figure for Brazil at Germany 2006, where he will be aiming to secure an unprecedented fourth consecutive appearance in the World Cup final.
