Costa Rica coach Alexandre Guimaraes has resigned following his side's disappointing World Cup campaign that saw them lose all three group games.
Guimaraes' side lost the opening game of the tournament - 4-2 to Germany - before going on to be defeated by Ecuador (3-0) and Poland (2-1).
"Each person has his own destiny. I am very clear about mine," said the Brazilian-born coach.
Guimaraes replaced Colombian coach Jorge Luis Pinto last year after the Ticos made a poor start to the final qualifying stage for the tournament.
He had been a member of Costa Rica's 1990 World Cup squad and coached them at the finals in Japan and South Korea four years ago.
