France defender William Gallas has warned his team-mates to expect Portugal's players to do everything possible to provoke them during Wednesday's World Cup semi-final.

Four players were sent off during Portugal's 1-0 victory against the Netherlands in the second round, while Wayne Rooney saw red as Luiz Felipe Scolari's men beat England in a penalty shootout in the quarter-final.

Gallas does not like what he views as Portugal's unsporting approach, but accepts that how France deal with it could prove crucial in Munich.

"You have to be attentive with the Portuguese because they like to dive, so it depends on the referee," said the Chelsea star.

"We will need to concentrate 100 per cent. They try to destabilise opponents.

"We saw that with Wayne Rooney. Unfortunately, Rooney may merit the red card.

"But you saw Cristiano Ronaldo insist to the referee to send him off. I hope there will not be too many low blows. Football remains a sport.

"We have spoken about not reacting to the provocation. We will work on it at training and, with the video, we will talk about this problem."
