Mexico coach Ricardo Lavolpe has resigned in order to pursue a career in club management.
The volatile 54-year-old guided Mexico to the second round of the World Cup, where they forced extra-time before slipping to a 2-1 defeat against Argentina.
However, the campaign was marred by a string of clashes between Lavolpe and members of the Mexican press corps, and there were also rumours of fallings out with several squad members.
The Argentinian, a World Cup winner as a player in 1978, has now decided to move on and search for a new job in Europe.
