Real Madrid have denied reports that Ronaldo is to undergo surgery to rectify an ongoing knee complaint.
Brazil's team doctor Jose Luiz Runco had been quoted as saying the striker is likely to use the summer break to have an operation to deal with a problem caused by calcium deposits in his left knee.
However, a statement on the Spanish club's official website explained: "Ronaldo returned from the World Cup with pain in his left knee that obliged him to be examined by Real's doctors.
"The player has now been told to rest to preserve the tendon in his right knee.
"The Madrid doctors have made contact with Brazil doctor Jose Luiz Runco to analyse the tests done in Madrid and find out about the state of the knees. For the moment surgery has been ruled out."
