Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes he has produced the best form of his career during the World Cup finals.

Buffon has only conceded once during the tournament - an own goal by Cristian Zaccardo in the 1-1 Group E draw against the USA - and is confident he can keep another clean sheet in Sunday's final against France.

"At this moment I feel very secure. I have no fear about defending my goal and am full of positive feelings," said the 28-year-old.

"I swear that I have never been in this good form in my career.

"In front of me there is an unbreachable wall and my self-belief comes from those team-mates."

Buffon's displays have moved him in sight of the World Cup finals record set by his compatriot Walter Zenga in Italia '90, when he went 517 minutes without being beaten.

The Azzurri's current shot-stopper will surpass the record if he avoids conceding a goal in the first 63 minutes of the final.

Buffon added: "Of course I am interested in beating that record but only if it means Italy have not conceded a goal in the final.

"On Sunday, I want to make my dream come true, win the game and finally touch the World Cup trophy."
