Italy coach Marcello Lippi has said that he will discuss his future with the Italian Soccer Federation on Tuesday amid suggestions that he is on the verge of resigning from the post.

Lippi led Italy to their fourth World Cup triumph when they beat France in Sunday's final, but his contract with the national team ends later this month.

The 58-year-old told a news conference on Monday: "I have an appointment tomorrow with (Italian federation vice-president) Giancarlo Abete.

"I am not going to talk about it today. I won't talk about it with you before I have discussed it with Dr Abete."

Lippi has been in charge of Italy for the last two years after a managerial career at club level that saw him enjoy spells with Juventus, Napoli and Internazionale.

He helped Juve clinch five Serie A titles in the 1990s as well as the 1996 Champions League.
