Simao making good progress

Saturday 29 April 2006

Portugal winger Simao should recover from an ankle injury in time to play for his country in next month's World Cup Finals in Germany.

The Benfica captain is recovering well from the injury which was initially expected to sideline him from this summer's showpiece event.

The 26-year-old twisted his left ankle recently, but Benfica now expect him to achieve full fitness in time for the tournament.

Simao was linked with Liverpool last summer but decided to stay with the Lisbon-based side.
