Aguero deal denied

Read Bill Borrows every day during the World Cup on 4thegame - you know it makes sense!

Independiente president Julio Comparada has rubbished press reports claiming teenage striker Sergio Aguero is on his way to Atletico Madrid.

Aguero is coveted by a host of European clubs after helping his country to win the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championships and there have been calls for Argentina coach Jose Pekerman to name the 18-year-old in his World Cup squad.

The interest has prompted Independiente to place a 20 million euros price tag on his head and Atletico are yet to match that valuation.

Comparada told Todo Noticias: "I deny totally what has been said in Spain in the last hours. Nobody can say that negotiations have been completed.

"When we end our participation in the Torneo Clausura we are going to analyse the different proposals that we have and then we will see how this continues.

"The proposal that we have received from Atletico Madrid is the only one that is near to what Independiente wants for the player."
