Dino Zoff
As a modern day player, Denmark's Peter Schmeichel may well have had the advantage over World Cup heroes of yesteryear such as Gordon Banks (England) and Lev Yashin (Russia), but there can be no denying that in terms of leaving a legacy on the biggest stage of all, Dino Zoff claims the position the World Cups' all-time goalkeeping great.
A star with Napoli and Juventus, Zoff played over 500 times in Serie A, and won six Italian league titles with Juve, as well as the European Championship in 1968 with Italy.
Zoff's greatest achievement came in leading the Azzurri to success in the 1982 finals, aged 40, making him the oldest winner of the World Cup. His performances in goal for Enzo Bearzot's side saw them beat Argentina and Brazil before defeating West Germany in the final.
After being dropped for the 1970 World Cup finals, where Italy were runners-up, Zoff appeared at the 1974, 1978 and 1982 finals, playing 17 World Cup games. In total he made 112 appearances for the national side, 59 as captain.
