USA defender Cory Gibbs has been ruled out of this summer's World Cup finals due to a knee injury.
The 26-year-old, who will join Charlton Athletic from Feyenoord before the new season gets underway, suffered the injury in the 1-0 friendly defeat by Morocco.
USA coach Bruce Arena admitted: "Naturally, we are very sorry for Cory. We know he was looking forward to playing in his first World Cup.
"I believe strongly in him as a player, we are going to miss him."
Gregg Berhalter has been called up as Gibbs' replacement in the 23-man squad for Germany.
