Johan Vonlanthen has been forced to withdraw from Switzerland's World Cup squad because of a torn hamstring.
The NAC Breda striker suffered the injury in training last Monday and the national team's medical staff have now ruled he has no chance of playing in Switzerland's group games against France, Togo and South Korea.
Coach Kobi Kuhn has called up Hakan Yakin as a replacement for Vonlanthen, but will wait until the June 12, the day before Switzerland's opener against France in Stuttgart, before confirming the move to FIFA.
Yakin was omitted from the original 23-man squad because of worries about his fitness and it is believed Kuhn wants to assess the Young Boys midfielder's condition before making a final decision about his participation.
