Portugal continued their preparations for the World Cup finals with a comfortable 4-1 friendly victory against Cape Verde in Evora on Saturday.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Pedro Pauleta looked close to his best as he grabbed a hat-trick.

The 33-year-old opened the scoring in the first minute, before a Fernando Meira own goal levelled the scores.

The islanders were not on level terms for long, as Pauleta headed home from a Luis Figo cross before the interval.

Petit made it 3-1 with a powerful shot after the break before Pauleta completed his hat-trick seven minutes from full-time.
