USA defender Gregg Berhalter has agreed to join German second division side 1860 Munich after the World Cup finals.
The 32-year-old, who was called into the national squad for Germany 2006 after Cory Gibbs was ruled out with a knee injury, will join 1860 on a free transfer from Energie Cottbus.
He has agreed a two-year contract with his new club and manager Stefan Reuter is confident he will prove to be a valuable addition to his side's promotion bid.
"We are convinced that he represents a significant reinforcement for our defence," said Reuter.
Berhalter had spells with FC Zwolle, Sparta Rotterdam, Cambuur Leeuwarden and Crystal Palace before joining Energie Cottbus in 2002.
