Sweden midfielder Freddie Ljungberg is on course to be fully fit by the time the World Cup finals get underway after returning to training on Wednesday.
The Arsenal star has been troubled by a foot problem for the past few weeks and doctors have told him he needs to rest for a month to give the injury time to heal properly.
With the start of Germany 2006 imminent that has not been possible, but the 29-year-old has benefited from a restricted schedule since joining the national team's training camp.
Coach Lars Lagerback is now planning to give Ljungberg a run out in Sweden's final pre-World cup friendly against Chile on Friday.
"If all goes to plan, he will play. The rest has been perfect for him," said Lagerback.
Ljungberg is looking forward to the game and added: "I have always known what's wrong and only needed to rest. That's why I was never worried. The foot feels great and everything is very positive."
