Getafe defender Mariano Pernia has been called into Spain's World Cup squad as a replacement for the injured Asier Del Horno.
The 25-year-old Chelsea left-back was forced to withdraw from the squad after suffering an ankle injury in training which will take around 20 days to heal.
Argentinian-born Pernia, 29, only gained dual nationality in April and Spain coach Luis Aragones left him out of his original 23-man squad because he felt selecting him would have been unfair on the players who secured qualification for Germany 2006.
The goalscoring full-back is now set to make his international debut when Spain face Egypt in a friendly on June 3.
