Tough test pleases Beenhakker

Tuesday 6 June 2006

Read Bill Borrows every day during the World Cup on 4thegame - you know it makes sense!

Trinidad & Tobago boss Leo Beenhakker is happy with his side's warm-up schedule after watching the Soca Warriors beat FC St Pauli 2-1 on Monday.

Beenhakker's side have struggled in recent defeats to the Czech Republic and Slovenia and were unimpressive in the narrow win against the German third division side.

Kenwyne Jones and Jason Scotland scored before the interval, but Atiba Charles' red card caused a few headaches for Beenhakker particularly after St Pauli scored a late goal from the penalty spot.

However, the Trinidad & Tobago coach said: "I don't think we have played or prepared any different to any other team here.

"You have to give players a chance to get as fit as possible and to see them perform as much as possible.

"This was a tough game and the type of game we expected and wanted. It was mainly for the players who haven't started for most of the games."
