Netherlands coach Marco van Basten is optimistic that midfield duo Rafael van der Vaart and Wesley Sneijder will recover from ankle injuries in time to play some part at the World Cup finals.
Van der Vaart has missed much of the Oranje's preparations for the tournament because of an existing complaint, while Sneijder took a heavy knock during last weekend's friendly against Australia.
Van Basten summoned Nigel de Jong and Stijn Schaars to join his squad as cover on Tuesday, but Van der Vaart was able to return to full training on Wednesday, while Sneijder was put through his paces by the Dutch physios.
"Van der Vaart joined the group and did well, while the prospect of Sneijder's situation is looking good," said Van Basten.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Phillip Cocu picked up ankle and thigh injuries respectively during the clash with the Socceroos but both are expected to recover in time to play in the Netherlands' World Cup opener against Serbia & Montenegro on June 11.
