Milan Baros is winning his race to regain full fitness ahead of Czech Republic's World Cup opener against the USA on June 12.
The Aston Villa striker suffered a foot injury during Sunday's friendly victory against Trinidad & Tobago and has been unable to train since.
However, the team's medical staff are pleased with the progress Baros has made in his recovery.
Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner said: "The doctors are optimistic and it is quite probable Milan Baros will be ready to play in the first game."
Bruckner's other injury doubts, midfielders Tomas Rosicky and Tomas Galasek, were both able to resume full training on Wednesday.
