Switzerland striker Marco Streller has been cleared to continue at the World Cup finals, having suffered a knee injury in training.

The 24-year-old, who missed Euro 2004 with a broken leg, suffered the injury during training on Friday, colliding with team-mate David Degen.

However, team doctor Cuno Wetzel confirmed: "There is some bruising and a slight ligament strain but no structural damage.

"He may still have some pain, but in principle he is free to resume training with the team."

Streller had an MRI scan on the problem on Saturday evening to check out the extent of the injury.
