Otto Pfister has made a dramatic U-turn and decided to return to his role as Togo coach just three days after walking out on the team after growing frustrated about a dispute over unpaid bonuses.
The Togolese Football Federation (TFF) has confirmed Pfister's change of heart as has the German's son and agent.
"Yes, he is back as a Togo coach," said Pfister Jr. "It is a matter of the heart. The FA has decided to choose him against all other candidates.
"The players have also tried to get him back over the last days and contacted him, which was the decisive step."
Last week Pfister had said: "I'm giving up my work as national trainer. I will not be at the World Cup. I'm not going to let myself be messed around any longer."
Former Cameroon coach Winfried Schafer held talks with the TFF over the weekend but the two parties could not come to an agreement.
Togo face South Korea in their World Cup Group G opener on Tuesday.
