Croatia defender Robert Kovac says it was easy to mark Brazil striker Ronaldo in the clash between the two sides in Berlin that ended 1-0 to the World Cup holders.

The Real Madrid ace made little impact during the encounter and was replaced 20 minutes from time by Robinho, leaving Kovac to doubt whether Ronaldo will be a key figure in the rest of the tournament.

Kovac told BBC Sport: "I don't know what happened to him.

"He didn't run and stayed in front of us. He must be tired. He hardly touched the ball.

"It was very easy. I've played against him before and it was very difficult. I don't know what's happened with him."

However, Kovac's team-mate Josip Simunic warned not to write Ronaldo off too soon.

He added: "Ronaldo is the most dangerous player in the world.

"I don't know what everyone is talking about and I am 100 per cent sure he will score four or five goals in the tournament. Just wait and see."
