Ecuador coach Luis Fernando Suarez wants his side to focus fully on the clash with Costa Rica in a bid to secure a victory and a place in the last 16 at the World Cup finals.

A 2-0 win over Poland in their opening game put Suarez's side in pole position for a place in the knockout stages, but they need to see off Costa Rica to remain on course, as they face hosts Germany in their final Group A game.

Suarez said: "We haven't come here to win just one game, but to qualify and you cannot qualify with only three points.

"We've made a good step, but things cannot stop there. That's the message I've been trying to give to the squad and I think they have understood quite well.

"When you're so close to qualifying and making history, there's no more motivation than this.

"This squad knows what Costa Rica have and how we can attack them.

"I've studied everything on Costa Rica, their last match against Germany, all the qualifiers and warm-up friendlies. That's why there's a lot of respect."
