Atletico Madrid coach Javier Aguirre has confirmed he hopes to complete a deal to sign Germany midfielder Tim Borowski before the end of the World Cup finals.
The Werder Bremen star is currently behind Chelsea new boy Michael Ballack in the reckoning for the national team, but Aguirre believes the 26-year-old would be a big hit in Spanish football.
"He is the kind of player I lack in order to complete the squad by (the end of) June," said Aguirre.
"I like him because he is a midfielder who gets up and down the pitch.
"I am not looking for a typical tidy midfielder but someone like the German who plays alongside a playmaker - we already have Peter Luccin and Costinha who can play in various positions.
"I have been following Borowski and he has stood out for his quality in attack but also his ability to track back.
"We have been looking at the international stage because it is difficult to buy this type of player in Spain."
