Sweden snatched a last-minute winner to see off Paraguay 1-0, with Freddie Ljungberg's goal ending the South Americans' hopes of making the knockout stages.
Paraguay's defence came under heavy pressure early on and after nine minutes Aldo Bobadilla made a fine diving save to tip away Kim Kallstrom's ferocious 30-yard left-foot drive.
Four minutes later Christian Wilhelmsson rasped a shot a couple of yards wide of the far post from 25 yards out, as Sweden continued to dominate.
Four minutes before the half-hour mark Ljungberg played in a superb pass to Wilhelmsson, but he got the ball trapped under his foot and Bobadilla snuffed out the danger.
Paraguay strikers Roque Santa Cruz and Nelson Haedo Valdez started to link up well as the half wore on and five minutes before the break Jorge Nunez fired a left-foot shot wide of the far post from a tight angle.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic then wasted the best chance of the half for Sweden, after being played in down the left channel his weak shot caused Bobadilla few problems.
After the restart, Paraguay started brightly with Santa Cruz finding Valdez, who twisted and turned before firing a shot just past the near post.
Nine minutes into the second period Henrik Larsson's free-kick was pushed away well by the alert Bobadilla and five minutes later sub Marcus Allback came within inches of making the breakthrough.
He beat the offside trap and lifted his shot over Bobadilla, but Denis Caniza got back to make an heroic goal-line clearance.
Paraguay continued to keep Andreas Isaksson busy with a number of efforts from distance, but ten minutes from time Niclas Alexandersson's cross was headed on by Larsson and Allback failed to make enough contact to beat Bobadilla from close range.
That looked like being the final chance of the game, but right at the death Johan Elmander's cross was headed back across goal by Allback and Ljungberg arrived right on cue to head home past Bobadilla.
The Arsenal midfielder almost added a second in time added on, but Sweden had done enough to secure a crucial victory.
