Pride left for Guimaraes

Read Bill Borrows every day during the World Cup on 4thegame - you know it makes sense!

Costa Rica coach Alexandre Guimaraes was left to survey the wreckage of his side's World Cup hopes after a 3-0 defeat by Ecuador ended all hopes of progressing.
Guimaraes had previously seen the Ticos lose 4-2 to hosts Germany and they now have only pride to play for against Poland in their final Group A clash.
"Ecuador have shown great quality in the past two games," said Guimaraes. "They are a difficult team to beat and I think they will do well.
"It's very disappointing to have lost two games in a row, but when you miss chances in front of goal you will get punished.
"We were punished by Germany and now by Ecuador."
Of the meeting with the Poles, who have also been eliminated, Guimaraes added: "Both teams are going to play for pride.
"Of course, we will need to show a better performance than we have in our previous two games."
