Serbia & Montenegro coach Ilija Petkovic has confirmed that he will resign from his post straight after the World Cup finals.
Petkovic has been in charge of his side for two years, but saw his team thrashed 6-0 by Argentina in their second game to end any hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages.
Petkovic confirmed: "I will resign when we come home, but I will not step down while the tournament is still in progress.
"We did well to qualify for the World Cup and I am not going to apologise to anyone for what happened against Argentina. Football is like that sometimes.
"This is a severe blow and we have to take it on the chin. This defeat has stained everything we have achieved, but we must get back on our feet and move on."
Petkovic's side lost their opening game 1-0 to the Netherlands, having arrived in Germany on the back of a qualifying campaign that saw them concede just one goal.
