Switzerland striker Alexander Frei admitted that his side could only relax after they scored their second goal in the 2-0 win over Togo.
Frei fired his side ahead 16 minutes in in Dortmund, but Tranquillo Barnetta only ensured a crucial victory two minutes from time.
Frei said: "Of course that was important.
"Our coach told us at half-time that we had to score a second and we did. The 2-0 victory is ideal.
"There are no easy teams. Togo were strong opponents, they have good players."
Togo coach Otto Pfister added: "The Swiss didn't have a lot of chances, they just used their opportunities better than us.
"We can't be happy, but the team is here to learn and I think they put on a good show."
