Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan will miss the crucial Group E clash against the USA after FIFA decided not to reverse the referee's decision to book the 20-year-old in Saturday's 2-0 victory against the Czech Republic.
Gyan was shown the yellow card for taking a penalty too early in the shock win.
FIFA spokesman Markus Siegler confirmed there were no plans to revoke the decision even though Gyan claimed he heard a whistle blown in the stands before he took the kick.
The Ghana youngster went on to hit the post with the retaken spot-kick when the score was still 1-0.
