Right-sided midfielder who like many of his international team-mates plays his club football in Portugal, with Varzim. Mendonca is unusual in that he is predominantly left footed but plays most of his football on the opposite flank. Here the 23-year-old is renowned for his searing pace and the ability to whip the ball in from the flank with great accuracy. On the international stage Mendonca has yet to fully convince coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves that he is the finished article and thus featured in just half of Angola's qualification games for this summer's World Cup finals.
