Angola's record goalscorer and most capped player. Akwa was described as the 'new Eusebio' when he first moved to Portuguese football with Benfica as a teenager. But despite failing to fulfil his early promise in Europe the powerful striker remains first choice for the national side. Now 29, Akwa is currently without a club after ending a brief stint in Qatar and will be hoping to use the World Cup as a shop window for his talents. Despite the emergence of a plethora of more youthful team-mates, Akwa remains Angola's number one striker and it was somehow fitting that he scored the goal that took his country to their first ever World Cup finals with the winner against Rwanda.
