Angola's vice-captain and one of the most experienced players in the World Cup squad. Figueiredo, 33, didn't make his international debut until three years ago but the diminutive midfielder made an immediate impact as a key member of the side that came close to eliminating the much-fancied Nigeria from the 2004 African Cup of Nations. Two years later both Figueiredo and Angola got their revenge as he scored in a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in Kano in a game which effectively sealed their place in the World Cup finals. An excellent and composed passer, he looks set to play a key role in Germany by pulling the strings from midfield.
