A versatile midfielder, Luis Gonzalez has established himself as an important member of the Argentina squad in the past three years. He scored on his international debut against Honduras in January 2003 and was an ever present as Argentina reached the final of the 2004 Copa America. Gonzalez, who can play in the holding role or as a right winger, was also a member of the team that claimed gold at the Athens Olympics. The 25-year-old enjoyed spells with Huracan and River Plate, where he won the Clausura in 2003 and 2004, before joining FC Porto in the summer of 2005.
