Rodrigo Palacio has worked his way up from the lower reaches of Argentinian football to secure a place in the World Cup squad. The striker, who is renowned for his dribbling skills, began his career with fourth division side Bella Vista before moving on to second division Huracan in 2002 and then top-flight club Banfield the following year. His displays there earned him a move to Boca Juniors in December 2004 and he has since helped the Bombonera outfit to win the Recopa, Copa Sudamericana and Apertura in 2005 and the Clausura in 2006. He made his international debut in a friendly against Mexico in March 2005, but by the time the squad was announced had won just one more cap.
