The most gifted member of the Socceroos squad, Kewell can operate on the left side of midfield or just behind the strikers. Made his international debut way back in April 1996, but has made only fleeting appearances for the national team since then. Moved to England to join Leeds United in late 1995 and stayed for nearly eight years at Elland Road, making nearly 250 first-team appearances for the Whites. In the summer of 2003 he moved on to Liverpool, where his progress has been blighted by a number of injury problems. Began to show his best form towards the end of the current campaign, before suffering yet another injury in the FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea.
