A regular goalscorer on the international stage, Aloisi tucked away the winning spot-kick that sealed Australia's place in Germany after a dramatic shootout play-off win over Uruguay. The well-travelled 30-year-old made his Socceroos debut in 1997 against FYR Macedonia and has been a squad fixture for much of the time since then. Left Australia in his teens to play in Belgium with Standard Liege and Antwerp, before moving on for a season in Italy with Cremonese. In the summer of 1997 he arrived in England for a spell with Portsmouth and then Coventry City. Has spent the last five years in Spain, firstly with Osasuna, before he linked up with Alaves a year ago.
