A creative passer in the midfield, Skoko will be hoping to make up for a disappointing season in club football, having struggled to make his mark since a move to England. The 30-year-old had previously played in Croatia with Hajduk Split, in Belgium with Racing Genk and in Turkey with Genclerbirligi, before deciding to try his luck in the Premiership. However, he found first-team opportunities limited at Wigan Athletic and ended the season out on loan at Stoke City. Skoko made his international bow in 1997 in a 1-0 win over FYR Macedonia in Skopje.
