An all-action midfielder, Bresciano has risen to prominence in Serie A with Parma, helping the club battle to preserve their top-flight status over the past couple of seasons. He first moved to Italy to link up with Empoli, before securing a switch to Parma in the summer of 2002. Bresciano made his international debut in June 2001 against France and has been a regular in the Socceroos set-up ever since. Made himself a hero by netting the goal against Uruguay that took the play-off to a penalty shootout, which Australia finally won 4-2 to secure a place in Germany this summer.
