A commanding presence in the Socceroos attack, Viduka will be expected to shoulder much of the goalscoring burden in Germany. The 30-year-old, of Croatian descent, made his Australia debut in June 1994 against South Africa, but has since struggled to make his mark on the international stage. At club level he made his name with Croatia Zagreb, before moving to Scotland to join Celtic in November 1998. After netting 30 goals in 37 league outings for the Bhoys he headed to England to sign for Leeds United in the summer of 2000 and continued to find the net consistently during four years at Elland Road. Moved to Middlesbrough two years ago and has maintained his success at club level, helping Boro reach the UEFA Cup final this season.
