A vastly experienced centre-half, Popovic has been on the international scene for over ten years. Made his Socceroos debut in February 1995 against Colombia and has passed the 50-cap mark since then. Started out with Sydney United and decided to try his luck in Japan in the summer of 1996, joining Sanfrecce Hiroshima, where he spent five seasons. Moved to England in August 2001 to join up with Crystal Palace and helped the Eagles return to the Premiership in 2003-04, only for the club to be relegated straight back down. Has made nearly 150 appearances for Palace, but has struggled with injuries in the last couple of years.
