Jaromir Blazek has enjoyed great success in domestic football with Sparta Prague, but has been unable to establish himself as a regular in the Czech Republic team. He made his international debut in a friendly against Australia in 2000 but then had to wait another three years for his second cap. The 33-year-old was part of the squad that reached the semi-final of Euro 2004 and, although he played in the 2-1 win against Germany in the group stage, he spent most of the tournament as Petr Cech's understudy. Blazek made just one appearance during the World Cup qualifying campaign and is likely to find himself restricted to bench duty at Germany 2006.
