Another physically imposing centre forward, Jiri Stajner is unlikely to see much action at Germany 2006. The Hannover 96 frontman has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Czech Republic team since making his debut in a 2-0 victory against Hungary in February 2002 and was left out of the squad for Euro 2004. He featured just three times during World Cup qualifying but secured his place in Karel Bruckner's 23-man party for the finals with a goal in the 2-2 friendly draw in Turkey in March. Stajner has played his club football for Hannover since leaving Slovan Liberec in 2002 but has struggled for goals in the Bundesliga, with his tally of six in the 2005-06 season representing his best return.
