A pacy right winger, Libor Sionko was late a call-up to Karel Bruckner's World Cup squad. He was omitted from the original 23-man party but got his chance when veteran midfielder Vladimir Smicer was unable to shake off a persistent thigh problem. Sionko won his first senior international cap against Poland in 1999 and, although he has been unable to hold down a regular starting berth, he featured three times during qualifying for Germany 2006. He made his name with Banik Ostrava before going on to enjoy successful spells with Sparta Prague, Grazer AK and Austria Vienna. The 28-year-old will play his club football in Scotland next term after agreeing a Bosman free transfer move to Rangers.
