Attacking right-back Martin Jiranek has been a member of the Czech Republic squad for the past four years, but is likely to spend most of Germany 2006 on the bench. After winning 20 caps at Under-21 level Jiranek made his senior international debut in a 4-1 friendly victory against Slovenia in August 2002. He finally established himself as a regular starter at Euro 2004, where the Czech Republic reached the semi-finals, but lost his place to Ajax's Zdenek Grygera during the World Cup qualifying campaign. At club level, he played for Bohemians Prague and Slovan Liberec in his homeland before moving on to Italian side Reggina in 2000 and his current club Spartak Moscow in 2004.
