Vastly experienced striker who is still very much the spearhead of the Ecuador attack after well over a decade with the national team. His country's all-time record goalscorer, Delgado first sprang to prominence with nine goals in the qualifiers for the 1998 World Cup, even though Ecuador failed to progress. He became the first Ecuadorian to score at the World Cup finals four years later when he netted against Mexico and is still going strong, having netted five times in qualification for Germany. Delgado has played for El Nacional and Barcelona in his homeland and currently plies his trade with LDU Quito, having also had spells with several clubs in Mexico. A stint in England with Southampton was ruined by a series of injuries.
