Forty-three goals in a season for Emelec in 1998 catapulted Kaviedes into the spotlight, but he has since struggled to live up to that early promise. Soon moved on to Italy to join Perugia, but he failed to make the grade and subsequent spells with Celta Vigo, Valladolid and FC Porto went little better. Made little impact four years ago, when he was back in his homeland with Barcelona, while he also made no impact during a stint in England with Crystal Palace. Now plays his club football in Argentina for Argentinos Juniors, where he is again struggling to impress, but he still has the talent to be a hit in the summer.
