The 25-year-old has been in imperious form for Chelsea since Jose Mourinho's arrival at Stamford Bridge and is one of the most consistent performers in the Premiership. He made his England debut as a substitute in the 2-1 win against Serbia & Montenegro in June 2003 and took his chance to establish himself at international level during Rio Ferdinand's eight-month suspension for missing a drug test. Terry has since become firmly established as Sven-Goran Eriksson's first choice centre-back and was outstanding during England's qualifying campaign. He formed a solid central defensive partnership with Sol Campbell at Euro 2004 but is expected to be used alongside Ferdinand in Germany.
