The French captain has a wealth of experience having made more than 100 appearances for his country since making his international debut 12 years ago. The reliable 34-year-old moved to Juventus from Parma in a massive £22million deal five years ago having started his career with AS Monaco. He was part of the Les Bleus side that won the World Cup in 1998 and Euro 2000 but announced his retirement from international football after his side's exit from Euro 2004. He reversed the decision in August 2005 and helped France recover from a poor start to qualify for this summer's World Cup finals. Thuram was born in Guadaloupe and initially wanted to be a priest.
