Frings became a crucial member of coach Rudi Voller's squad four years ago, proving an adaptable option across the midfield as Germany reached the World Cup final. Made his international debut in February 2001 against France and has re-emerged on the international stage after rejoining Werder Bremen from Bayern Munich, where he endured one torrid season, despite the club clinching a domestic league and cup double. Now one of the more experienced members of the current set-up, having won around 50 caps, Frings has also played for Borussia Dortmund.Has been deployed in a more defensive role in recent times but can also feature on the right side of midfield, as long as he has recovered fully from a leg injury that ended his domestic season early.
